Established in 2003, Countertops by MTS is a family-owned, full-service resource for
natural and engineered stone countertops. Our services include countertop/architectural
surface sales, state-of-the-art templating, professional installation, expert consultation,

Jason Nottestad - Owner - After graduating with a BA in English Literature
from the University of Iowa, Jason began his stonework career restoring old
buildings and barn foundations in rural Iowa. After moving to Madison, Jason’s restoration projects
included work on three Frank Lloyd Wright houses, including Taliesin. In 1997, Jason began to work
with granite and marble countertops and expanded into engineered stone in 2003. An expert in the
field, Jason writes a monthly column on templating and installing countertops for the magazine
Stone Business.
Lenard Nottestad - Owner - After graduating from the University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in Marketing, Lenard spent many years selling measuring and
cutting tools in the industrial market. He worked extensively with early vision based inspection
and measuring systems- technology similar to the E-Template system Countertops by MTS uses to
measure stone today. He formed and owned two different companies before establishing Countertops
by MTS in 2003.
